projects > the flood #4 sneak preview!

Wow… I can’t believe it’s happened so fast! The Flood #4 is coming out in a LITTLE OVER A WEEK. I can’t wait to share this one because I truly believe it’s the best issue yet. Over the past couple of editions I’ve learned SO much and I’ve gotten to talk to and see work from so many amazing artists from all over the world. When would I have ever been able to do that before this project?

This issue, dubbed the Summer 2011 edition, is super colorful and goes more in depth than previous issues. All kinds of artists from places as close as Minneapolis (where I live) and as far as Spain and even South Africa have been featured in this one. In fact, there’s even a story written by Jessie Eisenmann who is living abroad in South Africa who has been kind enough to share her experiences with the local art of the Eastern Cape. I also had a chance to interview Eva Lake, the cover artist for this issue, who is obviously a wonderful collage artist (and a painter too!). She had been heavily involved in the zine scene during the punk era and many of her artist books currently reside in the MOMA’s collection which is pretty big.

Besides the special feature stories, there’s all kinds of awesome artwork by Amy Doh (intricately woven pen & ink drawings from Montreal), Masha Rumyantseva (spectacular magazine illustrator in Russia previously featured on The Flood’s blog), Chengsi Lu (sunny, fun, & colorful illustrator in London), and a ridiculous amount of other talented artists, photographers, designers, and fashionistas – some who are already working successfully in their field, and others who seriously needed to be broken out of their spot under the radar.

I could say a lot more, but I probably shouldn’t ruin it with simply words… YOU CAN PREVIEW 10 PAGES FROM THE ISSUE HERE with your very own set of eyeballs.

The Flood #4 will be available as a digital download ($3.00) or an authentic print copy delivered anywhere ($5.00 + shipping) on JULY 1ST, 2011 in The Flood Shop.
