Hello, lovely Half Asleep Studio readers! It’s Mari here from Arcadian Home blog, a wonderful place to find beautiful and interesting home decor inspirations. I’m so excited to be visiting with you today to share a guest post about color-filled rooms.

Every year, I wait with anticipation to learn what gorgeous hue, the color experts at Pantone will present as their color of the year. For 2013, it’s the gorgeous jewel-tone Emerald. Last year it was the luscious citrus hue Tangerine Tango. I can’t forget 2011’s lovely Honeysuckle pink.

What is your favorite color?  Can you ever settle on just one? I can’t. Sometimes I think I love them all. Here are five rooms that I hope will inspire lots of colorful decorating ideas for your home. Please enjoy!

Here in this vintage living room (above), color is all about decorative accessories. From embroidered toss pillows on the sofa to the chartreuse potted hibiscus, color fills this charming space. The tiny colored glass table decorations would be pretty with or without the fresh cut blooms. I love how brilliant hues are carried from the room outside to the deck. What a happy look!

What a clever use of color blocking – so easy to do with the white shelves as guidelines and such stunning results. A mix of pure white and colorful accessories adds even more magic to the space. A bright and cheerful way to greet the day!

With clear crisp colors, this bath feels like an inviting vintage retreat. Even the linens on the open shelves get into the color act here, but the turquoise embossed wallpaper sets the tone for the entire room. And, of course, no vintage bathroom design would be complete without the iconic claw foot tub.

This raspberry and chartreuse bedroom is one of my favorites. It’s colorful and soothing at the same time. I love the repetition of a large floral pattern on the floor. How quirky and unexpected is chartreuse on the little tabletop light fixture?

A rainbow of primary colors is just right for this Mid-Century modern room design. And what can wake up an already color-filled room? Yes, you can with a graphic black and white rug that makes the other colors pop even more.
